Memorabilia
The exhibition Memorabilia explores fragments of a former culture through the use of found objects from yesteryear. It explores the use of mixed media techniques such as collage, photomontage, sculptural elements and found objects, which invest new and continually shifting meaning and interpretations for each individual.

The objects carry a reality of their own which owe their presence to human action and purpose. They are the remains of a past, broken-down system or culture which the artist attempts to reconstruct in a new way. These materials are deeply rooted in “human consciousness”. Memorabilia explores the psychological realm through which we perceive the exterior world.

The artworks aim to act as a form of osmosis, gradually allowing the absorption of new ideas into the existing static chain of accepted thought regarding environmental issues and the general wellbeing of modern society.

The fish depict the symbolic identification of the individual’s true “self”. The fish also stand for symbols of sacrifice and profound life, referring to the invisible, spiritual world and represent the life force that surges up from under the world of appearance. They are a metaphor for the aesthetic and spiritual significance hidden in nature and human beings.
