The Fish Chronicles consist of a series of paintings, which contain a collection of written accounts, composed from documents, old newspapers, book covers and journals.
The fish portrayed, embody the spiritual aspects of ourselves and stand for the universal symbol of spiritual belief. They are symbolic of the unconscious and can be interpreted as representing the emotional problems of every day life or specific time periods, which refers to the inner world of the psyche.
These fish can therefore be interpreted as representing food for a search to inner clarity, while the act of fishing represents doing ones inner work, consciously casting the bait into the depths of ones own innermost nature. The act of catching a fish can therefore symbolically represent extracting knowledge from out of the deep waters of the unconscious onto the dry land of ones conscious mind.
The artworks portrayed in this body of work carry a healing message, which is reinforced by bandages or stitches. They aim not only to heal the environment or species depicted, but also stand for a metaphor to heal the modern human mind.
